Biker Wedding for Bristol couple

The bride and groom were dressed in black when they climbed onto motorbikes to be taken to their wedding at Bristol Register Office.

Kath Fossard and Mike Roper, who run the Tap and Barrel pub in Dean Lane, Bedminster, are keen bikers.

So when they decided to get married, there was only one form of transport to get them to the ceremony on time.

Kath, 42, was carried on a Suzuki GS1000 ridden by "Fed" while Mike, 61, arrived on a green Kawasaki trike with "Porky" at the controls.

They were joined by a convoy of machines ridden by friends, family and customers, stopping Saturday shoppers in their tracks as they went around the city centre before reaching the register office.

The couple have known each other for about seven years and have run the pub for the past nine months.

Mike, sporting black jeans and a black leather waistcoat, said: "It's a biker-friendly pub and having a wedding like this was what we wanted."

Kath, whose bouquet included cream roses and black ribbons, said: "It's a bikers' wedding so I just had to wear black leather.

"We won't be having our honeymoon until later in the year when we're going to Greece so we'll carry on working at the pub until then."

Kath's matron of honour, Sandra Dunbar-Holsten, and best man Steve Allen also arrived on two wheels.
